Introducing El Paso Chiropractor's Dr. Oliver R. Smith, Jr. and Dr. Oliver R. Smith, III

Dr. Smith Jr. is proud to be a second generation Doctor of Chiropractic.

After completing his undergraduate work, Dr. Smith attended the Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas.

Upon graduation, he joined his father, Dr. Oliver R. Smith, Sr., in practice in El Paso, Texas in 1975. “Practicing with my dad was a great learning experience.”

Since that time, Dr. Smith has been very involved in both his profession as well as his community. Dr. Smith has served as a team physician for a number of local high schools, including Eastwood and Parkland, as well as the University of Texas El Paso and New Mexico State University. He has, also, treated many professional and Olympic athletes. Dr. Smith has held all the offices of District 1, of the Texas Chiropractic Association, and served as the State Association’s Secretary and President Elect. He served as President of the Texas Chiropractic Association from 1984- 1986. Dr. Smith was awarded Texas’ “Young Chiropractor of the Year” in 1981-82 and was the recipient of the “Keeler Plaque” as the outstanding Doctor of Chiropractic in Texas in 1997. In 1988, Dr. Smith also received the “Ambassador’s Award” from the city of El Paso, a very distinguished achievement. Dr. Smith was appointed to a six-year term on the prestigious Texas Board of Health by Gov. William Clements and was only the second Chiropractor to serve in this capacity. The eighteen members of the board ultimately elected him Secretary of the Board during his tenure. Dr. Smith, also, served a six-year term on the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners as President. Gov. George W. Bush personally appointed him from 1995-2001. Dr. Smith is currently on  the Executive Board of the Southwestern International Livestock Show and Rodeo.  Dr. Smith was president of the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Board and was awarded the "Arvidson Award" which is the highest honor you can recieve in Chiropractic regulation.  Dr. Smith married Laurie in 1978 and they have three children, Oliver III, Marilyn and Stephanie.
