Smith Chiropractic Financial Policies
Fees
In order to keep our fees and operating costs down, we appreciate payment at the time of service. If you need to be seen more than once a week, you may arrange to make payment on a weekly basis. We, also, offer you the opportunity to use MasterCard or Visa. Other arrangements can be made with our office staff depending on special circumstances.
Insurance
Virtually all insurance companies cover chiropractic services in Texas as a result of the insurance equality law. A few self-insured companies are regulated by different guidelines, therefore coverage may vary somewhat. We recommend you review your policy manual and familiarize yourself with the specific guidelines pertaining to chiropractic services. Our staff will also be able to assist you in that process. In most cases, we will bill your insurance company or if you prefer, we can provide you with a receipt which you can forward to your insurance company for your reimbursement.
PPOs
We are a network provider for many preferred provider organizations, such as Prudential Assured Benefits Association, Advantage Care Access, as well as several others. As members of those PPOs, we are responsible for filing insurance claims for payment. Most plans have a co-payment or deductible, which will have to be satisfied. If you feel your insurance company falls under any of these programs, please notify this office so that the appropriate authorizations may be obtained.
Workman's Compensation
Texas law permits you to see the doctor of your choice when injured on the job. Our insurance clerk will gladly work with your employer and insurance carrier in gathering and securing the appropriate paperwork necessary for treatment. It is customary that services provided under these circumstances are paid directly to the doctor by the insurance carrier. We require no payment from the patient. Due to strict reporting requirements, we must report to the Texas Workman’s Compensation Commission regularly on your progress, therefore it is important that you keep your appointments.
Medicare
Medicare offers limited coverage of chiropractic services and the Medicare patient, in most cases, is responsible for payment of services when rendered. We will file your Medicare weekly for your reimbursement. If you have a secondary or supplemental insurance policy, please give our insurance clerk the appropriate information so we may file your claim appropriately. The use of vitamins, therapy, x-rays, supports, et cetera are not covered by Medicare.
Champus
Currently, chiropractic services are only reimbursed when prescribed by a physician covered by this program.
Motor Vehnicular Accidents
Automobile accidents are common and should be evaluated by a chiropractic physician to determine both the short and long-term effects of the trauma. There are several ways to file claims when an auto accident has occurred. Our insurance clerk will be glad to discuss which method applies to your case and assist you in filing your claim. In most cases, no payment is required from the patient that is received from the insurance company.
