Your First Visit to Our El Paso Practice

You will be warmly welcomed and made to feel at home. Help is on its way!

New patients should arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to fill out the necessary paper work.

All new patients will undergo a comprehensive examination on their initial visit which may require one to two hours.

The purpose of your first visit is to gather the information necessary to determine if yours is a Chiropractic case as we will only accept those patients who we feel will respond favorably to Chiropractic care.  Your first visit will include a consultation/case history, examination, x-rays (if necessary), a report of findings and the initial treatment (if appropriate).

If you have any recent x-rays of the problem area(s) or special studies such as MRI's, CT scans, blood work, a bone density test etc., please be sure to bring them.

Following the doctor's review of the results of the consultation/case history, examination and x-rays, he will answer the essential questions for you.

1: What is the nature of my problem?

2: Can we help you?  and

3: What is the treatment plan and how long will it take?

We believe strongly that patients should have a strong understanding of all aspects of their condition and we are convinced that the patient that has this understanding works better with their doctor and therefore achieves a quicker and more complete correction.  We suggest that, when possible, you bring a close family member or friend in with you when the doctor is giving his report of findings.  From, our experience, this has proven helpful when more than the patient alone understands the condition, it's limitations and treatment required.

At that point, you will be given a treatment plan based on your individual health needs taking into consideration your diagnosis, occupation, duration of your condition and health history.  Our care is designed to accomplish three major goals:

1: relieve or decrease your pain and other symptoms,

2: correct or improve the cause of your health problem and

3: assist you in maintaining your health.

Following your session with the doctor the receptionist will help you schedule your next appointment and discuss financial details.

If your condition proves not to be a Chiropractic case, Dr. Smith will refer you another physician in the appropriate speciality, or will work with a group of other doctors if that is what your condition requires.

No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
